We are looking for professionals from the Philadelphia area to volunteer as Guest Speakers and share their career story with 6th-12th grade students. Presentations are approximately 1 hour long and held in-school. All professions are welcome. This program is currently running at Germantown High School, Edison High School, Bartram High School, Overbrook High School, Frankford High School, Lingelbach Elementary School, AB Day Elementary School, Hamilton Elementary School, and Kinsey Elementary School. We are looking for volunteers to monitor our in-school programs (Guest Speakersand Career Clubs) throughout the year. This is a 1 hour commitment of up to 8 times a month (depending on availability). Volunteers will drive to their assigned school, greet the presenter, monitor the presentation, and distribute student questionnaires at the end. We are looking for tech savvy volunteers to assist with Computers in Hand, a computer donation program for families in need. Volunteers will work under a head technician to refurbish used computers, carry donated equipment to/from the office, and provide technical assistance to recipients. Though not required, volunteers should have some level of knowledge or experience with the following tasks:
Installing software, operating systems

We are looking for Philadelphia area companies to host Workplace Tours for 9th-12th grade students. A representative from the company will give a guided tour of the work site, followed by a presentation/discussion about related occupations. Students will be bused to the location and lunch is optional. Past tours have been to SEPTA, QVC Studio, The Birth Center in Bryn Mawr, City Hall, and the Philadelphia International Airport. We are collecting towers, working CRT monitors, working and non-working flatscreen monitors, and parts (mice, speakers and keyboards) from 1999 or Windows 2000 and up for our Computers in Handprogram. Any data on hard drives will be cleaned off. Donations can be dropped off during office hours (9 AM to 5 PM Monday to Thursday and 9 AM to 4 PM Friday) at 7600 Stenton Avenue Suite 1A-B Philadelphia, PA 19118. Our staff will assist with unloading computers, and pick ups are available for large loads (15 or more computers). We are collecting K-8 books (children's books and chapter books, preferably published after 1990) in new or gently used condition (without tears, rips, writing, water marks, stains, or missing pages) for our Reading for Successprogram.
